After listening to Skinny Puppy's "Worlock" for ages and ages, I finally got to watch the not-while-I'm-eating video for it. Can't say it's what I had pictured all this time, though it does kind of suit it. I needed a bit of a palate cleanser after that one-- fortunately, there's always Laibach. Ah, Laibach-- still wtf after all these years.

Starting next week, Alas is going to go into what I call an "off-sides" storyline: mostly unconnected with anything she usually does. I'm starting some new classes and use this style when I want to create a good buffer; I'm also doing it because of the Thomas Dolby show at the end of the month. Hopefully, everything's gonna work out just fine.

When I'm scanning and touching up the strip, I will often put one song on repeat on my iTunes. Sometimes it's Spahn Ranch's "Melting Winged Bird," very often it's Skinny Puppy's "Worlock" (as if you couldn't tell). Last night, for whatever reason, it was Barenaked Ladies' "Call and Answer." Perhaps it has the right tempo for looping in the background, maybe I'm occasionally a sucker for a pop band. BNL does put on a good live show, I'll say that. But now I'm really looking forward to the Thomas Dolby show in September-- need to recenter my musical snobbery.

I had to take a final on Thursday night, and when I got home I had the choice of drawing the strip or eating. I ate. I'll post Friday's strip sometime on Saturday.

I bought a new (old) David Bowie album-- this will affect scripts to come. Also, I've discovered that nothing improves a laptop's operating speed like a total system failure followed by an OS reinstallation. That formerly cranky piece of machinery now sings like an MC. It has moved up in my affections.
