The novel under discussion is Milorad Pavic's Khazar Dictionary, a novel set up as a three-part lexicon on the history of a mysteriously assimilated/vanished people. I highly recommend it, and not just because it will give you insight into Peter Murphy's album Deep.

Happy Halloween, gneeches! I know it's been a slow year, but I couldn't let this day go by without a strip. I'm more optimistic about next year... more specifically, next semester, when I'll only have one evening class. In the meantime, I gotta go be the stranger who hands out candy.
