February 17th, 2003 -- Rude awakening

Alas originally bought that sword about 100 strips or so back, at a Rennaissance festival she attended with Nic. I figure she's not the sort to toss things away easily (observe how tenaciously she clings to her love of long-disbanded groups).

Turkey does indeed share a common border with Iraq (and Iran, and Armenia, and Syria), and it's amazing how many folks back home forget that. Of course, I'm in Istanbul, which is about as far from Iraq as you can get and still be in Turkey, so I'm not too worried about my personal safety. In general though, international relations are not a subject I care to deal with in the context of a gothy comic strip.

Alas will be back for the month of October. How can I let a Halloween go by without her?

Within 24 hours, Bauhaus releases a new album (inspiring my inner black-hearted Goth), and Gary Gygax passes away (crushing my inner magic-user geek). What up with that, world?

I'm getting better-- the arrival of nearly 40 lbs. of temple oranges bodes for the return of full health. I'm genki enough that I'm trying out some really weird things this week-- expect amateur attempts at illustration stunts instead of plot. The blue pencil really has me trying things out.
