I've had a nasty cold for the last three days. Expect that to be reflected in Wednesday's strip when/if it gets posted later this evening.

I'm still enjoying doing pre-scan coloring on the strips. It's like doing a film with natural light.

In unrelated news, many happy returns to Darshu on this fine day.

Did you know that Alas had passed the 500 strip mark? Niether did I. It happened back sometime during that last submarine arc, when I wasn't really paying attention to the count. Maybe I'll have to make a bigger deal when it hits 600.

I keep meaning to sit and sketch the Metro platform at my local station, or maybe one of the transfer points downtown, but this weekend I hit every single train right on time, no waiting. Can't complain, but now I have to muster up the will to go to the Metro when I haven't a destination in mind.

Really, really enjoying Project Pitchfork's Kaskade right now. Vicked, vicked beets, at least from the perspective of a pasty pale over-thirty who hasn't been to the club in years. Hell, the album itself is 3 years old. Still pulses like new for me, though.

Is it worth watching the new Terminator series just to see Summer Glau working again? Is she worried about getting typecast in waif-fu roles? Personally, I'm comfortable with that, I'm just concerned that she'll burn out and go back to university or something.

Another year, another production run. I'd like to thank the Gopher for helping me keep this thing going for eight years. Even if some of those years were pretty sparse, I like to think it's an accomplishment. Certainly my drawing and framing has gotten better. After eight years, I'm close enough to start wondering what Alas is going to look like when she hits ten. Can I plan out two years' worth of storyline? Eh, better work on January, first.

Happy St. Nicholas Day! Time for all the gud Kinder to look in their romper-stompers before lacing them up. Myself, I'm walking to work slowly on account of the half-inch of ice coating DC. Really, it's quite lovely.

Snow! Snow on the ground in DC! Booyah! Okay, it's less than an inch. But still! The way is now open for the backgrounds in the strip to go straight to white-out.

Went and saw Beowulf, and found it better than I expected. I've been reading that particular piece since I was a kid, so I felt rather obliged to give the film a chance. I still envision Grendel rather differently than the film did, but they did about as good a job livening up the story as they could without taking too many liberties.
