February 28th, 2001 -- Growing Up Goth crossover, part I

Original Babbler for 02/28/2001: Hey, did I say the "Growing Up Goth" crossover would start on the 26th? I meant the 28th. Quibbling aside, here's the first installment. If you're a regular reader of Alas (and I'm talking to three of you), you will probably want to bop over to growingupgoth.com and check out just who this Starla Rae is. If by some chance you're a regular reader of L. Laser's delightful strip, and you've managed to find my site, then welcome to "Alas," and don't hit me. I got permission.

New Babbler: Growing Up Goth was one of those strips that popped up in the early, early days of webcomics. You know the type: they start up, you discover them, read 'em all, and right when you're falling in love, the strip terminates. Growing Up Goth is now long gone, but I'm still grateful to Ms. Laser for letting me borrow her main character. I'm not angry that the strip is gone-- I'm glad that I got a chance to see it at all. It had the sort of attitude I wanted more of in Alas, and even today it's in the back of my mind as a benchmark of sorts.

What have I been doing this entire time? I'll tell you: raising a daughter, and learning to draw Celtic knots. That's right.

December 14th, 2009

Okay, strip's up. Little later than I'd like, but what the hey. Wednesday should be back to normal (even though it's gonna be... diff'rent).

There is a strip coming for today... but later. I let the weekend get away with me (had to take the bantling to meet Sinter Klas for the first time), and my telecommuting job is demanding my Monday morning. Fortunately, I'm on a 5 hour time difference from the States, so most of you won't even notice the strip's tardiness. (But the Gopher will notice. Ever watching, ever judging...)
